The Adkins Family “We spent countless hours over 18 months working with Truberry Group’s architect. Even though we had many changes, the project superintendent gave us complete cooperation. We wanted a great room, first-floor master suite and a nice-sized kitchen with a seating area. In the kitchen, we moved a sidewall in order to have a window seat, and we expanded the gathering area. We altered the laundry/mud room, and it has become one of our most used features. In the original plan, the garage door opened into a large laundry room. Instead, we had a doorless opening placed at an angle to the kitchen and enclosed the laundry room at the other end. We added a cabinet with drawers in what we call our ‘key room’ — the place where we drop everything when coming in from the garage. Now our new home is very much ours because of the many custom choices we made, and because Truberry was so accommodating.” This home is largely finished with an old English, style. In the kitchen, knotty wood was selected for the island cabinet. To continue that style, wide-wood plank flooring is used in the kitchen and dining room, decorative “old English slate” concrete is used for the drive and patio, brick headers were added over the windows, and wooden garage doors were chosen. | |||
